A Morse code sending instrument made with a spring loaded lever on a fulcrum. When the lever is depressed, the brass lever or key makes contact with a fixed terminal, closing the electric circuit which energizes two small coils into magnets. The magnets draw down a small bar on the telegraph sounder, making a dot or a dash sound depending upon the length of time (split seconds) contact is made by the telegrapher. Dots are short, dashes are slightly longer.
