A procedure in which gamma rays naturally given off or emitted by rock formations, cut through by the wells borehole, are measured. A radiation detector is lowered into the hole and picks up gamma rays emitted by the rock. The signals are transmitted to a recording device at the surface. See Gamma Ray Logging.
